List of Pet Food companies and their product manufacturers     Last update March 26

With the massive pet food recall that is going on, I have had people asking me what pet food is safe. At this point, feeding our pets any commercially prepared food can feel quite risky. The following companies have made statements that their food is not affected by the Menu Foods recall. However it has come to light that many of the companies that make the better SUPER PREMIUM HUMAN GRADE FOODS that are not on the recall have manufacturing ties with MENU FOODS!  We felt that is important information to get out there so you can make an informed and educated decisions on what to feed your pets as well as what companies you choose to put your money behind. In weighing that decision keep in mind that Menu Foods MURDERED several cats and dogs to continue testing their product when they already KNEW it was killing other animals.

According to CBS News; After finding out the dog and cat food manufactured at their plant may be contaminated, Menu Foods decided to test their product by feeding it to 40 to 50 dogs and cats - seven died.

"Not only are people's companion animals dying because of Menu Foods, but innocent laboratory dogs and cats are dying as well.  This whole situation is such a shame.  Menu Foods should immediately stop animal testing at their laboratories and consider an ethical and compassionate response to the problem at hand - the numerous dogs and cats that have already died because of this yet undisclosed contamination deserve no less! " said Chris DeRose, LCA President & Founder. There is a class-action lawsuit being filed on behalf of all California pet owners harmed by the pet food.  If you or someone you know has been affected by the food, please contact:

One last note- before we get to the list - one personal story I would like to share is that of my phone call to NEWMAN'S ORGANICS today. When I learned that they had affiliations with Menu foods, I decided to call  Newman's and asked what products, cats/dogs/canned etc.. do they farm out to MENU, as I have a few cans of their canned dog food on hand for when I cannot cook for our dogs. Well, they (as a few others listed below) REFUSED to give me ANY INFO!

In my personal opinion, a company that will not give a customer any info that is requested is not a company I would choose to do business with or recommend. I did say to the customer rep that "I don't feel comfortable purchasing their products- nor recommending them if I can't get info on them". The Newman's rep reply was "Well we're sorry- but we'll take that chance".  Needless to say I will no longer be purchasing any products from Newman's be it people or pet food. I just thought I'd share that with you.

Now as to the list below... those with just the business name listed, we have obtained information from their websites. We will be contacting them for further information and will update the list appropriately as soon as possible.

When you are done looking through the list, PLEASE VISIT ThePetsitUSA.com Blog link here as they have a great on-going discussion.  Another good 'discussions' of the same nature is at: http://www.ourdogsonline.com/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/97154

IMPORTANT:

Please check with the manufacturer of your pet’s food…check their website or call them. Also, as more pet foods are being added to the list of recalled pet foods, it’s imperative that you continue to check the Menu Foods recall list at http://menufoods.com/recall/ And if you find out your pet has eaten any of the recalled food, call your vet immediately.

Do not take this list as the final word. It is neither an endorsement of any foods listed, nor is it a complete list of all pet foods that are not on the recall list. There undoubtedly are other foods that are not on the recall list. We are adding them as we find out about them and verify their status.
